The Fiery Furnace

King Nebuchadnezzar has a golden statue that everyone must bow down to. If they do not bow down when the music is played, then you will get thrown in the Fiery Furnace. Everyone obeys the King except three Jewish men; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. The three men get sent to talk to the King. The Three men tell the King that their god will save them from the furnace. They also tell him that they will never follow the King's god. The king gets so mad that he has the furnace turned even higher than before. The Furnace is so hot, that the people taking in the three men get burned to death. The three men remain in the furnace unharmed. The King is so amazed, he decides to start worshipping their god.

1.Can you find an example of someone today who reminds you of King Nebuchadnezzar? 2.Why would the King get mad at the three men for not following his god? 3. Do you think the King's god exist, or is the three men's god the only god. Do you think this story is proposing there is more than one god? 4.What do you think is significant about the men not getting burned in the furnace? 5.How can this story be applied to the 21 st century, what is the moral of the story?
